No brainer, go with the 06 KR. The 99 should give you 16-18 mpg, not sure why the guy was only getting 13 with it but be that as it may, thats what its getting so dont expect to buy it and get 18+ with it.

The 06 should give you a solid 15-18 mpg and over all is a much nicer (creature comfort wise) truck than the 99.

that's about all I could muster out of mine untill I put the chip on it.. a lot more fun and easier to live with getting an additional 125 miles on a tank..

anyway, I agree..
go the KingRanch. It will hold more value longer.

Thanks again!

Mike, I saw a best of 15.7 in my 08 when I was driving extremely cautiously. Granted, it only had 16k miles on it at the time, but I was still a bit disappointed as my 6.0 could do that leveled on 35s running 75-80.

Thanks,
Rusty

I think youd be disappointed in the power of the 7.3.

on the 2006 6.0L id be looking for an oasis report...check for
signs of coolant puke (white crusty deposits).

The only real problem w/ the 05-07s is the HPOP connector bracket
and if it hasnt already been repaired youll want that repaired under
the 100k warranty.

I heard a 2005 start in a parking lot yesterday...man he cranked on
that thing for a long time (compared to what mine takes to fire)...didnt
have the heart to tell the guy he was about to have some problems....

Thanks Bush. I'm going to go check it out on my way to St. Louis on Friday. I'm taking my checkbook and trailer too, so that's dangerous! I'll have an oasis report run on it though.

Thanks for the information,
Rusty

Thought you were going the dpf delete / tuner route, Rusty. Was your rig "making oil" or just bad mileage?

Both really. The combination of the terrible mileage and the payment was just killing me. Plus, it was damaged at 1800 miles when I was working an ice storm for my company and I wasn't pleased with that. I guess I was also tired of dumping cash into one that was depreciating so fast! I actually did really well on it. Total investment I was down 1200 dollars after 17k miles! That's without factoring in the tax write off! :D

BTW, I bought the KR truck. I'm picking it up on Friday. The oasis showed the HPOP having been done. It's had a bit of injector issues, but I pulled the 200k warranty out of the deal so not too bad.

Sorry to hear it, rusty. I have a friend with a new 08 that I've driven and apparently he's having issues at 2 months in. He claims he ran out of power with a flatbed full of lawn equipment, says a light came on saying to "stop safely now". Dealer says dpf got too hot and cracked? Truck was towed. What a shame.

I'll look into that Bush. Thanks for the advice.

Sorry to hear about your buddy's 6.4. I loved the power mine had, but it was absolutely rediculous to get 7.6 mpg pulling my GN with two Jeeps on it to Arkansas when my 6.0 would get 10-11 with the exact same load all day long.

I missed the rattle of the 6.0 anyway :sly
