I was wondering if anyone knew what a dp tuner does to the life of your engine?

Red,

Welcome to SDD. DP tuners can set you up however you want to be set up. Just tell them what you want. Obviously if you want to be tuned for 140 extra horse and have your foot in it 24/7 you will decrease the life of your engine. But that is ALL controlled by the throttle peddle. Regardless of brand, the different chips or tuners wont hurt your engine if you drive it sensibly. You need to make sure you have proper modifications to support what ever type of programming you choose though (ie, gauges, intake, exhaust, injectors, tranny mods..... etc etc..)

Welcome to SDD

Simply put the more horsepower the faster the wear will occour IF you use more power all of the time.

Like 95 stroker said guages are required and using the guages to keep the engine operating in safe perameters is required. That being said many guys have been running 300+hp for 200+k miles having 100k already on the engine before modding.

If you drive in a manner that your fuel pedal could be replaced with an on-off switch then you will definately decrease the lifespan of your engine.

Well at 229K I'm about to install a DP-Tuner chip. Post back after I've logged 100K miles and I'll give you an update. :D P.S. I ain't afraid!

Thanks for the welcome! The plan is to do gauges, intake and exhaust first, so sounds like I'll be safe. Yea I hope to be able to keep my foot out of it.:D that could be something.;)
