I have a 2003 F250 crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0. It is about ready to roll over 100k. My boss wants to "rent" my truck at the end of June for a week long fishing trip he is taking to Canada. He will probably put on 1500 miles or so in the week. He has offered to pay for me to take my truck in to the dealer and have them go over it and repalce whats needs done.

My question is, is there a typical 100k check up for these 6.0 diesels? Do they go over the injectors or turbo or anything like that? Is there a 100k checklist I can tell the tech I want done?

I already have on my list: replace belt, replace all hoses, charge the a/c and check u-joints and tie-rod ends.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :hail

I don't know anything about a checkup, but if I were you I'd tell your boss the same thing I tell people that want to ride my Harley. "You can ride it, but I get to ride your wife":sly

X2. My wife has driven my truck maybe 3-4 times [too many happy soda's for me] and I let my daughter drive it once so she wouldn't be scared of her Explorer. You have alot of faith. First thing I'd be concerned with is simple: Does this person own a diesel? Its a learning curve, as these threads prove. Warm up, letting it idle if hot before shut-down, using the right fuel, etc. Your braver than me. On the other hand, 1500 miles is nothing for these trucks. As long as the oil and filter are good, tires aired up, fuel filters still good, thats not a long trip at all. If he's footing the bill, and your confident he can handle it, get some maintenance done on his dime. :innocent

X2 Fine69! My father always told me, "There are two things in life that you never let other people borrow: your vehicle and your wife, 'cause they just might throw a rod in either one!" :lmao

No......its cool. My boss is also one of my really good friends. He has borrowed my truck before for short stints and knows how particular I am about it. He owns the business so if it breaks.....he buys it and it turns in a company vehicle!!!!! :sly

Thanks!

where Im from I was alwasy taught there were 4 things you never
ask to borrow...<or loan out>

Wife
Truck
Motorcycles
TOOLS

Im glad your boss is cool...but think what could
happen if your truck broke down and ruined his vacation...

I always tell friends that wanna borrow my truck and/or trailer...
sure no problem...come get it...but when you come over to get it
drive your sports car or motorcycle and leave the keys for me to
drive it <usually ends the conversation right there !>

best bumper sticker i ever saw --->
"YES, Its my truck and NO you cant borrow it !"

since you having the belt replaced, make sure they check the idler pullys and belt tensioner while they are there...also wouldn`t hurt to check all the fluids
diff`s, transfer case etc...other then what you have listed, all filters and tires psi should be checked....also wouldn`t hurt to do a check on all the lights....hope this helps....
