When I turn my key to the run position and wait for the WTS light, there is a pump running. I was thinking it is the vacuum pump because my ESOF hoses were bad, but I replaced them and it still runs. It is on the far right side of the engine compartment. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how long it should run?

The vacuum pump is on the right fender, near the hood hinge. You may have knocked loose a small hose, or broken a T fitting.

It is normal to hear the vacuum pump running when you turn the key. This pump also supplies vacuum to your HVAC system.

You might also hear the fuel pump running under the drivers side floor board.

Thanks guys. How long should the pump run before it shuts off if there arent any leaks? Of course I can't hear it once I start the engine. I felt it while the truck was running and it didn't seem to be vibrating after about a 20 mile drive.
