Real quick- I have an '06 F350 6.0 and am replacing the exhaust due to some issues like snow/ice berms and the girlfriend backing up....

I am debating the benefits of turbo-back and CAT back systems and though I live in CA, I am fine to cut the CAT and save it for whenever it comes to pass that we need to have it on for the smog show.

So, is the pulling of the CAT a benefit and if I go this route, is a turbo back a great benefit?

Thanks in advance.

You can buy an MBRP 3.5" downpipe and MBRP cat delete pipe. The downpipe will help with EGTs and the cat delete pipe will fit the OEM 3.5" tubing. Whenever you neeed to have a smog check, you simply swap in the cat get the test and swap out.

FWI cats are required equipment unless you are using your vehicle IAW your local and federal regulations.

Thanks. For the next year or so that I'm in CA I'll have the CAT sitting on the shelf come the day they want to check it, but the plan is to be in Baja where there's no issues save for fuel quality.

I was looking at the MBRP site at the complete 4" system. Off hand do you know if anyone that's gone this route has a problem with their truck throwing codes? This is the only mod I've done to the engine excepting the Amsoil oil bypass system.

I have done exactly what I posted to my own truck including removing the muffler. There's no sensors for the cat so the truck never throws a code. It's not difficult to do yourself and it sounds great if you delete the muffler at the same time.

Thanks. I plan on keeping the muffler just out of needing to hear myself think, but the CAT I can live without for a long while.

What is it then that guys go to a four inch system instead of sticking with the 3-1/2" - pecker prestige or just pushing more with their chips?

Since the stock system is 3.5" after the cat the aftermarket parts just go to 4". They want you to believe the HP and TQ gains they show with their systems. Their kits do remove quite a few bends and are great quality (T409 & T304 SS) so there are some good reasons to go aftermerket.

I'm just doing what works and what gives me a few bucks for other mods.
