Pulley rubbing/grinding on water pump housing

Had to take the X into the shop today for the pulley behind the fan rubbing on the front edge of the water pump housing. Yesteray it had a sqeek/rubbing noise comming frm the front of the motor. Last night i noticed the pulley wabbling while the belt was riding on it. This morning i noticed black crumbs under the truck and shavings on the top side of the water pump.

What you think? Just the pulley is bad?

I drove almost 100 miles yesterday with it doing the noise and never notices any of the guages out of normal operating to include the operating temp...

Ford just called and said it needed a new WP

They ain't lying. That pulley rides on the water pump, which incorporates the bearing that went bad enough that the pulley was rubbing on the pump. That bearing goes bad, that pump is bad too.

That hurt yesterday but all is well for the pending road trip to Houston on Wednesday night.
