I have an 05 F250. Totally stock w/ 53,000 miles. Today I drove the truck to work w/out an issue. Well I rode w/ a buddy at lunch and when we got back I noticed a small puddle under the passenger side of my truck. When I crawled under and looked it turnded out to be antifreeze. It was dripping slowly while I was looking under it. The truck seems to run fine w/ no issues. It dont over heat, no oil in the coolant, no coolant in the oil, and no water or smoke coming out of the exhaust?? I'm not hard on the truck and it never pulls anything. WHAT DID I DO?? Head gaskets? EGR cooler? Freeze plug? Any help is greatly appreciated guys.
Thanks,
Verlin

Its coming from the back of the motor by the head and dripping down onto the starter. Are there any hoses back there I should check?

I'm a 7.3 guy but it seems like Any leaks, fuel, coolant or oil end up dripping off the starter or the bell housing. yul really need to get underneath and under the hood with a Good Strong light and try to see just where it's coming from.. or at least a more definitive area.

Off the top ? buy what you've said ? Check the heater hoses where they connect to the heater core box. Then give every clamp that has to do with coolant.. a 1/4 turn tighter.

Whats the Coolant level like, in yer de-gas tank ?

Let us know what you find ?

Joe

It looks like its coming from around the top of the head and running down and dripping from there. The coolant level in the de gas tank was pretty low. I refilled it before I left work and the level is still normal for now. Thanks for the help. I'll check all the hoses in the morning for leaks and give them a 1/4 turn.

do you have access to a pressure tester?

does it drip when it is hot/cold/always?

it could be coming from a lot of different places, so you really need to get it under pressure and dripping and find the source.

Well it just started dripping today and it was only after the truck had sat in the 40*+ weather all day after driving it to work. I checked my driveway when I got off and there was no signs of dripping before I left for work.. The puddle wasnt HUGE and it seems to only be dripping while its cold. Before I left work today I let the truck warm up and when I got home there was very little/no leak. I checked pretty good and the only moisture seems to be what was there before i warmed/drove the truck. I put a cardboard box under it to see if it leaks over-nite. I'll really look around in the morning its just hard to do after 13hrs of work. I'll keep you posted. Sorry about posting in two sections.

hey i tried to send you a PM but you dont have that option turned on. i dont want to poison this thread but, to answer your question from the other posting: 01 gt convertible, 4 point roll cage, KN cold air in, off road H-pipe, flowmaster delta 40's. nothing special at all because its my wifes daily driver. she wants me to put cams in it for a bumpy idle, but fuel mileage is a concern of mine so i am a little scared to cam it just yet. my best friend has an 03 KB cobra....check ou t my you tube vids there is a bunch of dyno pulls of him.

hijack OFF

SOUNDS LIKE ITS A COLD LEAK. that usually (from my experience) is going to be 2 pieces of metal, versus a hose. take a good look at the egr cooler, and someone correct me if im wrong, but cant the oil cooler leak externally as well into the valley?

Well I went out and checked the truck this morning and there was a small puddle. I let the truck warm up and it was still dripping. Whats the easiest way to check the EGR cooler and oil cooler? Remove stuff? It's wet under the Turbo a little and the only place I can see coolant dripping from underneath the truck is from behind the bottom of the head. I've blown a couple head gaskets in my 5.0's and never had them just sit and drip coolant. Is it different in a diesel? Head gaskets would sure suck.

well this is where i start to become useless, as the last time i have tinkered with a 6.0 was back in '05. i dont remember enough to help you. if you cant see it though, i would start pulling parts to find where the heck its coming from.
