I searched and came up short. Now that I have my pyro in I have been watching temps and from reading other unrelated posts have a question about the normal range. I know it has been discussed but I havent found the thread.

I have an 8 mile work commute that is pretty close to non-stop. The highest I have seen the gauge is about 700. A couple of days ago I drove out of town 75 miles and it was about 500 to 800 but ran up to 1100 on a slight incline unloaded at 69mph. Powerboatr said pulling a 5th wheel up a good grade he only hit 1250. Another thing, today coming to work (outside air about 48*) I hit the exit ramp and coasted in 4th and noticed the egt was only about 300 to 350.

Any of this sound off or is it just me looking for stuff not there?

Our trucks are basically the same except you have a CC I have a SC. I also have my ebpv gutted.

I cannot get my pyro above 950 to 1000 empty, that is on an extremely long hill at about 90 mph. What is you max boost? May have a boost leak? At 48* with your mods I would think it would be kinda tough to see those temps.

The highest I have seen my boost is about 14ish. When we t'ed into the map line we replaced the pinch clamps with real hose clamps to stop any leaks there. Most times I shift at about 2000 rpm and rarely see 10 lbs boost. The hill I was on at 1100 was short and I was on cruise at 69. :dunno

is there anywhere else to look for boost leaks? I have not gutted the ebpv but did disconnect. Now that cold weather is gone I was thinking of reconnecting just because.

15 psi is normal max boost for a basically unmodded truck like yours Pete. How's the condition of your air filter?

air should be good. I change it about every 6 months but with the low mileage I run that is probably unnecessary. I average probably 400 miles/month if I dont go out of town.

Im not concerned really, it just surprised me.

Hmmm....seems a little high. You were in OD right? Maybe it was lugged to low. :dunno

When you had your Exhaust installed, the EBPV was open right?

yes, OD but running 69 Im at 2000 rpm exactly.

I assume valve was open but just doing down pipe wouldnt affect that would it? I mean it would be apparent if it was closed.

Yes. Did you back out of it when it got that high? Turbo should have spooled fine at that rpm. If I lug mine it can shoot up.

I'll have to think about this one. I have an adaptor made to check for boost leaks. Hooks to a compressor and I use soap water on the connections.

the hill was short so by the time I got that high I was at the top and it started back down on its own.
