I have been wondering if it is possible to program the transmission , or shift points to allow the truck to drive at around 110 km, but stay at around 1750 rpms. Are there programmers for this sort of thing?
Also wondering if it's normal for the truck to rev up to 1000rpms on cold mornings, after the preliminary chuggles!!!! at start up? On days that it is not so cold it will rev up to around 800 rpms , the odd thing is I will step on the brake pedal and it returns to it's normal idle .
Any ideas anyone?:thanks

The raised idle speed is normal. You will read posts about "high idle" or "high idle mod" occasionally, that's what they are reffering to. It just helps them warm up better on cold mornings. A diesel at normal idle will take forever to get to running temp in the winter. Some people have their trucks wired so they can turn the idle up with a switch.

Don't have a clue about your tuner question. What is 110km in MPH? I would guess if your truck is in the highest gear at 110 you can't get the same speed out of it with a lower rpm. (I assume that's your goal? Better mileage?)

What's you gear ratio? 3:73? 4:10? 4:30?

Your RPMs @ speed are decided by you gear ratios. Only way to get lower RPMs @ higher speeds is to drop in some lower gears. To get where you want you'd have to go to 3.42s, or maybe lower. But if you do any kind of towing, I wouldn't recommend it.

To Scot

gear ratio is 3.73 , and for your other question 110 km equals about 68 miles an hour. Nice new truck, nice snow banks , we get those also up here in Quebec Canada.

Both mine are auto w/ 3:73. and at 70 I'm running just under 1900 rpm. Unless you wanted to change your gears, I think your stuck, as Deviant said. I have no clue on the cost of a gear change, but I would guess you would need to drive a ton to recoupe your costs.
