So my 2013 6.7 is at the dealer because the tranny is down shifting really hard whenever I'm coming off the highway. Keep in mind I bought this truck a year ago used. The dealer just called and told me there is a reflash that ford has issued to correct this issue. problem is the dealer said I have an aftermarket program installed that I did not know about. They are telling me to do the reflash they will have to set everything back to stock and I'll loss the program. Not being the original owner they also said there could be issues when they do this not knowing what has been taken off or deleted out of the truck. I know the DEF has been deleted. So my question is what would you do? Leave it alone and risk a shortened life with the tranny or open the can of worms and hope everything can be set back to stock. They also want $300 to do it. Warranty does not apply to this. I've had programs in my other 7.3 in the past that installed and love them.

If or when the tranny goes, it will cost a LOT more than $300. Save the tranny and do the flash. Screw the programmer.

What Dave said.

The 6.7's come with plenty of power... Stock.

Just an .02's worth.

If it goes back to stock the computer will think you have the DEF and you will have problems again. If you know the previous owner you might get as much info from him about what programmer or tunes you have and what other modifications your truck has.

I'd try to find out who the tune is from. Usually an aftermarket tune over rides the engine and transmission parameters. So if that's the case with your current tune I don't think the Ford flash would fix it.

Did they say anything about checking fluid condition? Has it done this since you bought it or is it recent development?

It has done this since I bought it. I purchased out of state from a ford dealership so I don't have any way of contacting the original owner for info. The tech is concerned if we try and set it back to stock we are going to open a can of worms with all the unknowns of what has been deleted. He thinks the tranny will be fine if I leave it as is. Its bugging the crap out of me with all these unknowns and the dealership I bought it from is no help. I should have done more digging into the truck before I committed. You would have thought a dealership selling a year old vehicle with a warranty would have disclosed these issues. Maybe a new 17 in my future.....Thanks
