Priming a diesel that has run out of fuel.

interesting...id think youd get at least SOME hesitation or rough idling
until the filter bowls fill up. fwiw you might be interested in knowing the
owners man. calls for cycling the key a couple of times.

not even a hicup... I was expecting something too. is there some kind of self bleeding system built in to the newer ones??? The 03 had some rough running but that was the HFCM w/ the heater. Could they have eliminated the need to cycle (with a programing change) w/o bothering to change the manual?:confused:

I know sometime mid year 04 or early 05 the made a change to
the HFCM and elminated the heater...(brown plug)...so who knows really.

good to know that just the same & the NEXT time i change my filters
ill give it a whirl (sorry its the vicodin kicking in)

I took a look at the 6.0 bible and it shows a bleeder at the top of the engine compartment filter housing. It also says the pressure maintains 60 +/- 5 PSI. At that pressure, it shouldn't take more than 5-10 seconds after the key is on for the system to bleed the air & fill the filter areas. That's about how long I wait on a warmer day to start. On a Cold morning, maybe 20-30 seconds at the most.
