So i went to a Delaer in my area to get my truck appraised and was offered the Sum of 1500-2000 dollars, the salesman told me that my 97 had alot of miles on it and he could smell diesel on it, he then told me that if they took it to auction the most they could get for it was 1000-1500, im the second owner of this truck and maybe im crazy but i think its worth alot more than that even with the rising cost of diesel.

Im not an apprasial expert but i think they are lowballin' you. I traded in my 2000 grand prix for my 04 super duty. The POS had 150,000 miles on it, a hole the size of a basketball where the one of the front foglights used to be, it was leaking like a siv from both head gaskets and also the rear main, the brakes were wasted along with the tires and suspension, the fuel gauge didn't work, and neither did the windshield washer pump. ALL of that being said-the dealer gave me 1500.00 for it!!! And i got a smokin' deal on the truck. You should try to sell your truck outright like craigslist or ebay or something... you should get better results.

If a dealer insulted me like that, there is no way I would buy the new truck from them. I would drive halfway across the state to avoid them. I know they are in it to make $ but have some integrity! :rant

New Car Prices and Used Car Blue Book Values - Official Kelley Blue Book Site Came up with the following for trade in.

Condition Value (trade in values)
Excellent $6,275
Good $5,725
Fair $4,760

That is trade in values, they would most likely throw a 10K price on it @ THEIR lot before it was sent to auction.

X2 what Scot said. Kelley Blue Book is a good resource. Dealers around here list the blue book value on the windows of used vehicles because everyone around here is using it.

thnx for the info guys i knew he was low balling me and he had no clue when it came to diesels, i mean the trucks clean inside and out, and as my wife would attest I love this truck like its part of my family, and i babied it from the day i bought it, im a Die hard Ford truck man, if it doesnt have a Blue oval with four wheel drive i want nothin to do with it, but i bought for 11,000 in december 06, since then ive put about 3-4000 miles on it i just changed the oil last week, i recently replaced the Starter, Batteries, battery cables, starter solenoid, and alternator, she runs like a champ, im a little concerned b/c at higher RPMs it smokes blueish gray, and on cold morning 25-30* F when i start it and go it kind of lugs and is real sluggish but after about five minutes cruising at 45 at 2000 RPMs she wakes up and theres not a problem at all the rest of the day. so where would be a good place to post it up to sell it, i dont want to but being active duty military i move around alot and cant afford to drive, would i be better off just throwing it up for sale in my front yard in Rural Farm Country Iowa?

offered the Sum of 1500-2000 dollars.
I could get twice that out of my 75'.

I know you could get close to 10k for it around here. The OBS trucks are becoming harder to find. I know of two guys that are looking for clean ones right now, they both ask me everyday if I will sell mine.

Put it on your local Craig's list or in the classifieds. If there is a fair amount of traffic on your road the front yard approach may work.
