Is your truck an F250 or F350? F250's have Vacuum pumps, F350's use Hydro boost, thats why your brakes weren't affected.

So far the steering is working. However my first tip to a problem was extremely strong fumes in the cab when idling at a red light. They claim it was a leaking gear box spilling oil onto the manifold. I question if they are right because I continue to have the same problem periodically. It smells like fresh untreated diesel exhaust and it is very strong. Anyone else have this problem?

Power Steering and Odor

Power Steering seems to be working fine, but the odor is starting to come back again quite frequently, yet not on a consistent basis. Tough to locate, but almost gases you out of the cab. Has to be something near the vent intake.
