I've searched through this forum and others. I can't seem to find information on upgrading the power steering pump.

While parking my truck today, the power steering pressure hose (pump to hydroboost unit) broke off the pump. I've already purchased a new hose and some transmission fluid. I'm not sure if it damaged the pump when this happened. I had the truck running another 30-45 seconds after the hose let go and sprayed fluid all over the parking lot and engine. If the power steering pump is now bad, can anyone recommend a better pump than the factory one? All I see online is remanufactured pumps. I would like one that allows easier steering while the truck is not moving. I flushed my current pump twice in the last few years. I also run synthetic transmission fluid in the system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am not sure this will help Drew, but Red Head makes Steering boxes for trucks that head over heals better than the factory boxes. I am guessing that they rebuild the steering boxes. These people may know of a better pump or someone who rebuilds these pumps better than the Factory. http://www.redheadsteeringgears.com/about-us
