"I've heard that you can disable a EGR on a 6.0 powerstroke using only hand tools.
I would be very interested in figuring how to make my truck run better with out spending hundreds of dollars on a delete pipe. And when i have to get a sticker, i would love to have it be easy to return it to stock so i can have correct emissions to get a sticker, then return it to non use."

I really don't have enough knowledge of the 6.0's to answer this question. Let me know what ya'll think and I'll pass it along. Thanks;tu

I did a quick read-up on this issue. And I've read where a can tack weld a piece of metal to block it off....and I've also heard that could cause problems. Could he just buy one from a junk yard and gut it out...then swap out as needed? And how long of a job would it be to get down to it to do what he's talking about or to swap out a gutted/operational one?

That could be done, but I have no idea of how long (time wise) it would take. I think it could be done in a few hours with a good shop.

The only problem I see with that is it leaves the EGR cooler in place and as the truck gets older it becomes a weak and can still break. The only ways to fix the problem is delete it completly or clean the EGR and put in an aftermarket EGR cooler.

Remove the EGR up-pipe and weld the "T" shut. This prevents the exhaust gases from entering the EGR cooler. Unplug the EGR valve could lead to a CEL or code depending on the model year. SCT tuning can be used to prevent the CEL or code.
