Anybody have this problem: 7.3 runs good then runs rough and dies runs good for a few weeks then dies? Could it be a fuel regulator or fuel pump going out? Becoming a serious problem while driving in traffic or on freeway.

It was changed at 95000 miles it (now has 142000 on it) at that time it just kicked the bucket wouldn't start at all this time maybe it is telling me something in a slower way. Someone mentioned it could be the same thing on Diesel down he could be be right.

It could be the slow death version. My first sensor did that.

mine would never die completely, just cough real hard every now and again. changed the cps on a whim, and never had a problem since.

Yeah the cps would be the first guess and then fuel filter.

Just replaced fuel filter a couple of days ago. Sure seemed to run fine until today when my wife was driving in heavy traffic in Tacoma, WA. Boy was she ticked off when she called me on the cell phone. Told me we need to stop getting our diesel at CFN; I told her it was unlikely the fuel maybe it is the cam sensor. I would hate to take it into the Ford Dealership and have them charge me out the nose for a simple fix.

It could be the cps Ford has a recallon them, and ifyour truck isn't under the recall they are $25 from Ford now. They only take 15mins to install.

My 2002 F350 stalled on to occasions at a red light a few years ago within a 6 month period. On the second incident I was on the way to work and about a mile from a Ford Dealer heavy truck shop. I asked them to check my truck out. They replaced the CPS at the time I paid the 100.00 deductable. Truck has ran fine since although I haven't been contacted from Ford on the CPS recall yet. In fact I purchased a spare CPS from one of the diesel sight sponsers and payed 100.00 or so before the recall and now 25.00 price from Ford. I have read the blue CPS sold at International is supposed to be better than the gray ones from Ford? I think the CPS from International does cost more. I'm guessing during the recall service Ford keeps the one they take off? Be nice to have an additional spare.
