For over 12 years, we had a Beagle that we had adopted from the local shelter. Originally, we got her for our son, but once the novelty had worn off, she became my dog.

Eventually, she contracted bladder cancer and we had to release her from the pain. I was devastated. I took her loss much harder than anyone else. They say time heals the pain of a lost loved one. In my case, it lessened my pain but never healed the pain over Tammi's loss.

Soon afterwards, as the kids were growing up becoming more independent and moving out, Mrs TG began a new job as a traveling nurse and I had quit my traveling job. I found myself home alone a lot and missing my departed buddy.

Later our son & wife found a lost dog in Nashville. After trying to locate the owner without sucess, they added her to the two dogs they had adopted earlier. To keep the story short, I ended up with Mattie within a few months. Only then did I get over the loss of our Beagle. Mattie was able to do what time could not and heal my heart.

Mattie became very attached to me very quickly, so much so that when I had to go somewhere, she would go get one of my dirty socks and snuggle with it.

She has proven to be a wonderful dog, loyal, loving and very caring & attentive over our grandson.
I don't see how she would have survived with her heavy coat in Nashville as hot as it gets there. She truely loves wintertime and the snow. :sweet

Here's our spoiled Cocker "Paco" kicking back after a long day of boating at Lake Powell in Utah a few months ago. Hey, that's my chair! :D
