ok so im pulling my 30 ft fifth wheel and 20 foot boat through the CO mountains (denver-steamboat springs)......all goes well..i get to steamboat and let the turbo cool down. i shut it off and go eat...i come back and head off to the lake and i can only get 4lb of boost and im pouring black smoke (running rich due to 4 lbs)

sound like my turbo is done? if so will it make it back to denver OK on its own with no load so i can slap a new turbo on it?

i have tried resetting the ECU and i know shaft turns cux im getting some boost. i have checked all IC pipes and checked IC for holes and i cant find anything that would leak 20 lbs of boost

I AM:
Chipped, cat back exhaust, AFE intake, Banks exhaust break, and new ATS Trans

early 99 F 350.....this truck has to be pulling by saturday night to get me back home and to work

Have you checked for any shaft endplay? When I first installed my turbo I forgot to hook up the EBPV actuator and had the same things you are describing because the valve was restricting the exhaust output of the turbo. But I can't see how that would come apart while you were eating. Just thinking out loud, hope it helps.

On edit: I just noticed your Banks break. Could that be stuck shut (actuated)? I would think that would do the same thing.

Did you go to Steamboat Lake or Stagecoach Reservoir? Either way I'm jealous!

I would first check your exhaust brake to see if it's malfunctioning. There's no way you are going to make it back Rabbit Ear's pass and the climb from Dillon to Eisenhower tunnel are brutal!
