pmt with pyrometer

just ordered my pmt off ebay day before yesterday and got my pillar pod mount in paint today. cant wait to get it on

i know i know all of yall said go with sct.... but im hard headed and probably learn the hard way.

ill let yall know what i think once i get it in.

question though....

pyrometer- easy install?? where should i drill the hole?? recommendations

I drilled my pyro hole under the driver's side exhaust manifold, between the third and fourth exhaust ports. Drill carefully and vacuum it out before starting the truck.

did you take your manifold off?? i wouldnt figure a vacuum is going to do much justice fo that tiny of a hole to stick the hose in...

The hole is about 7/8 inch and just sticking the suction hose on the hole will vacuum out the bits of metal. Much better than running them through the turbocharger. You can go to all of the work and remove the manifold, but it is not common to do.

having that grease on there (be it however lil bit you put on) is not going to throw a bad reading? im sorta new to pyrometer.

I love my PMT. Just take your time with the drill and the tap. Putting a little grease will help to hole the shavings just make sure when you tap the manifold. Once you fire the engine up, it will take care of that grease. You stop every full turn and back the tap out a 1/2 turn. This is important when tapping cast iron. It will keep the threads uniform and wont have the tendancy to chip off.
