Hello everyone!

I have just purchased a 2007 F-350 with the 6.0L Auto FX4.

I have a few concerns about the truck. Just wondering if some of you have had similar problems and knew how to fix them.

-I have noticed some smoke coming from under the hood on the drives side when sitting at traffic lights but it does not happen all the time.

-Truck has been using coolant but there is no leaks of any kind and truck is not blowing any smoke from exhaust unless stomping on it then it is more of a blackish color than anything.

-Letting Glo plugs full warm up but seems to be a little hard starting in the mornings until engine is fully warm. Runs perfectly fine after it fires up just turns over quite a bit before starting.

-Sometimes I hear a light ticking sound or knock that progresses with revs until at high speeds or driving truck for 5 mins or so. sound sounds like it is coming from pass side. I have only heard it in cab.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Using coolant without any visible leaks is a sign of a blown head gasket. You need to get the coolant tested for combustion gasses to be sure of a blown head gasket or not. Ford can do this for $$. You can get an Oasis Report from Ford by giving them your VIN and this will show every thing that FORD has done to this truck in the past. Head gaskets are not easy or cheap. Good Luck.

I would check the FICM weak or bad batteries will kill it plus if you have a bad pipe added heat from the smoke you see could be bad
Check here YouTube - ‪Ford 6.0 FICM Testing & Removal Instructional Video‬‏

Have you changed the fuel filters (Ford or Racor only)
Change the oil run Syn oil a 5w40 you can get the Motorcraft filter at Walmart 2016

The coolant has to be going somewhere on the ground on the motor or out the exhaust.

Any white powdery spots around the degas bottle?

The smoke coming from under the hood sounds like an exhaust leak - maybe from the y-pipe bellows.
