p0402 code (egr)

Sweet. I'll stop by there the next time I'm in the area and pick one up.

How exactly does the EGR valve come out? Is it threaded in there?

I believe it is 2 bolts and "just slides out". I have heard the first time out and being really dirty, they can put up quite a fight.....

Thanks all! So sorry for the late reply.

My '04 was in the shop for a shorted trans-temp sensor harness/sensor. While it was there I asked them to look at the EGR issue. They declared the EGR Intercooler to be leaking, but i see ZERO evidence of that. I believe it was an easy answer to my EGR question that would pay them $3100 (EGR/oil coolers). I opted out.

To my knowledge they never had any reason to check the EGR valve, yet the valve is operating perfectly now. It was chugging under throttle before I took it in.

I will probably replace my EGR intercooler with an aftermarket, such as a Bulletproof.
