When I bought my 06 I asked the dealership about the owner loyalty rebate that some of the dealers around here were offering. They said they had never heard of it but would get back to me about it. After a few months I went a little higher up the Ford ladder and today I received a check and a hand written note from my Ford dealer saying they got the owner loyalty for me. :sly Now let the mods begin.

Well drop the bomb on us and let us all know how much it's worth to be a loyal Ford driver.

I bought the truck the end of Dec when they were trying to unload the last of the 06's and were giving some real nice discounts. Do you think $2000 is enough to keep me loyal, Ya you betcha it does. I really don't know what it took to qualify for it but buying a 500 limited and SD CC the same year might have helped.

...but buying a 500 limited and SD CC.....

How do you like the 500 Limited? We bought our in July 2005, have 36000 miles on it, and it's a great car. Word of caution though: Watch your rear brakes. They will go out before the front ones. Ours were gone around 27000 miles. Tires (Continentals) were gone about the same time, replaced with Michelins. I also like the fact that it has a rollbar made into the roof. Basically it's a Volvo with Ford badges. Even though they're a little slow now with the 3.0 engine, that will improve with the 3.5 in the 08 Taurus.

The 500 is a nice ride but thought it would be getting better mileage (25mpg) by now. I just rotated the tires at 19k and they are down to the wear bars. The wife has never made 25k out of a set of tires on anything she has driven. Can you say hard on the gas then on the brake. We have had it in 3 times because it does'nt shift out of 3rd gear sometimes. Thanks for the heads up on the rear brakes.

Yeah, my wife accuses me of being that way on the brakes (driving highway speeds then braking quickly). There's a forum on blueovalnews.com with a subject dedicated to Five Hundred/Taurus/Taurus X/Montego/Freestyle at this link: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?showforum=23 that can answer any questions you might have. I haven't been on it for awhile, but there was a thread about brakes. Some people were having to replace rear brakes at 19000 miles. The reason the rear brakes go out first is because of the European (Volvo) design. We had problems with the electronic climate control, so the dealer replaced it. Now it works better than when it was new. If we get another one (which will have to be a Taurus), I might opt for the all wheel drive model. To be honest, I'd really like to have another Crown Vic.

In a couple of years the last of the kids will be out of the house so I think the next car we get will be a Mustang. That should raise their dander a little.

Yes their dander will be raised. The Mustang's a SWEET car. I like the "Pony" option with the small foglights along with the "Mustang" stripe under the doors. However, it's a "typical" sports car - hard (for me) to get in to and out of.

That's the same thing I'm finding on the fleet cars I service. They're brake eatin' machines... and yes, Continental tires are crap.

I would imagine that the drivers of fleet cars are rougher on them than if they owned the cars. We had a 2004 Expedition that we traded on the 2005 Five Hundred, and it had Continentals on it. They still looked good when we traded at 35000 miles.
