OK, New intercooler installed, oil changed, distilled water flush with extended coolant, new fuel filters. Hauled the camper to Idaho with 62 chevy in tow... went up the hill and it Overheated but cooled.... Dropped off the truck and back.....up the hill..(we're talking about a 4000ft or so mountain pass.... overheated.... it's blowing coolant from the cap....then it cools down and is fine. I overheated once not long before I blew the intercooler and before all the work..... If i go out the next day and unscrew the coolant cap.... it's still under pressure. Could it be a thermostat????? the oil looks good, no smoke of anykind from the straight pipe exhaust. I went back to stock tune but still lost some coolant from the cap....Thanks Todd:dunno

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Have someone check the coolant for combustion gases. The clue here is - overheating under load.

Aaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhh?#%@&*&^#%

Crapola, that is what i'm fearing..... If I replace them i'm going with the fancy dancy head bolts.... I guess that way it won't do it again.... Living in BFE, I don't have a lot of choices.... How hard is it to pull the heads and replace the bolts.... Is there a lot of crap that has to come off?:dunno

The cab of the truck has to be lifted to get the heads back on after the studs are installed. Get a manual for your truck at www.helminc.com and check it out. The whole process is not easy or cheap! A big pain in the &**.

Probably a hillbilly shadetree mechanic working for ford at 10 bucks an hour...There's no place like home... there's no place like home ..Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa:violin

Fordman says its the EGR cooler or the Headgaskets....Won't need to remove the cab to fix the head gaskets! Do you or do you not have to on the 03? I thought it was only on the 08 and later!
