OD lock out button quit working today.

I have voltage up to it but no light on the button. I get continuity as long as I hold the button down and it breaks contact when I release.

How do I fix the problem.

hummm so its a momentary switch...and it would seem the switch is
fine...could it just be the LIGHT thats out ? could it be a broken wire
between the switch and the "board" ?

ohm out each wire to determine that the wires arent broken or shorting...

well thats just it i dont know where the wires END ;)
id 1st trace the wires from the switch/plug end & see where they end...
and then id try to ohm the each wire end to end and see if they could
be open or shorted.

I cannot get continuity across the LED bulb in either polarization. It appears to be in series with the circuit which in my thinking creates an open.

Wonder if that is the problem and if I can jump past it?

ok 1st i dont know how to test led's but theres no filament like
a conventional bulb so i would THINK it would show open...

someone here should be able to instruct us on the proper method
used to test diodes (Light Emit. DIODE)...its been so long since
ive used any of my hardware/computer skills i forget.

how to test a diode - Google Search

Bought a new LED bulb and replaced the one that wasnt working.

Light and OD button work for a mile or so but as I cycle test the button back and forth it eventually hangs with the OD locked out..............

tilt the sterring wheel all the way DOWN
pull back the rubber seal stuff on the top of the column
then look at the od off wire that runs right out of the selector handle at the bottom near the knuckle and then goes acroos under the rubber stuff
then you will most likely see the two itty bitty wire has chaffed through
smetimes it will make continuity and then a little jolt and bam your stuck with OD off or on
there was a tsb along time ago

its an easy fix
replace the selector handle wiring and DONT run it through the same are that chaffs
my 02 did it and it took about 30 minutes t fix
