There is a shop that does rebuilds, all new parts for a 1996 PSD $3,500.00. They have been at this location for many years. Clean busy shop.

For starters the main reason for a new engine is that mine has 320,000, it is becoming a 7.3L oil pump, and my wife will start driving it after our second son arrives in June.

Just curious, have you made sure it's not just injector o-rings? Pull the fuel filter and see if the fuel is dark from oil. Bad o-rings can dump a lot of oil. Mine were not obviously bad, but after replacing them I went from 2 quarts every 3k miles to a quart every 8k.

Hey Don,
The oil is coming from my oil cooler, I bought a re-build kit (seals & o-rings) and hope to pull it apart this weekend and repair it. While I am at it, I plan on putting on my coolant filter.

Oil cooler is a pretty easy (but messy) repair. Can you tell if it's at an o-ring? FYI if it's at one of the gaskets theres the small chance it's a bit more than seals. Wierd things I've seen or heard of;
-cracked cooler header
-cracked front cover
-rusted block where the header gasket seals
-too thin block casting where the rear header seats (forget which years that is a possibility but IH used to fix that through ford under extended warranty)

I'll post what I find. I will be tearing into it tomorrow (4/21). If anyone in Dallas is bored and wants to swing by let me know.
