Howdy All,
I am trying to get everything in order to get a new engine. For starters the main reason for a new engine is that mine has 320,000, it is becoming a 7.3L oil pump, and my wife will start driving it after our second son arrives in June.
I don't have the time or knowledge to try and rebuild it myself so I am looking for any referrals here in the Dallas / Ft.Worth area. I did talk to Jasper Engines and they said 9,500.00 +/- plus 2,400.00 core which will be returned if mine is usable. Is this a reasonable price? I like the 2 year warranty w/ unlimited mileage. Any comments good or bad about Jasper would be appreciated.
Any local recommendations would be appreciated, or do any of y'all do rebuilds on the side. I am not looking for a race truck or anything fancy. I am looking at doing this the first of April to mid May. We won't need two vehicles by then. So it would not be a situation where I had to have the truck back right away. Also, I can remove the engine from the truck and take the it to a shop.
Once again, any comments or ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Craig

I havent bought from them nor do I personally know anybody who has. But it is a good price comparison and one worth investigating I think. Even if they ding you for shipping there is a couple grand to play with.

The price seems really high to me. I have a lot of experience with jasper engines and trannies. Matter of fact we are putting a Jasper 350 chevy in a truck right now. We purchase mostly gassers, but a few diesels have come from them. Definatly a great company. I have seen Jasper motors outlast factory Ford's and GM's. They will deliver the new and pick up the core. Our delivery guy said he has delivered 7.3L powerstrokes on his little portable hilo deal, so you may not need a fork lift to unload it. All depends on the equipment they give those Texan Jasper employees.

Tpicou,
Where was this from Jasper or Rebuilt Diesel Engines.com? Did the company not honor their warranty?
