I'm thinking about getting my truck bed sprayed soon. I just wanted to get some opinions on the different options out there. Rhino, Line-X, etc...

Also, what is the going rate to get a long bed done? Prep, spraying, etc.

Don't know about the price, but I've seen alot of work/construction trucks with rhino lining in them that held up good. It would be where I would go if mine needed it. IMO

I priced the Line X that matches your color at about 750.00 for a short bed.

I put a rubber mat in instead until funds are more readily available.

My Rhino, (in 2003), color matched to the bed rail caps, was $500.00. Best investment I made, I have hauled a lot of schtuff, demo'd concrete, gravel, wood, etc..... great product.

Going to have the interior tub of my son's 72 Bronco (we just purchased) Rhino'd. :D

Lone,

Either Rhino or Line-x - you can't go wrong with either. I have a Rhino for 10 years now, really holds up well. I throw sand, gravel, shovels, brick, block, firewood, even haul a slide in camper. It holds up very well.

Which ever Liner you go with, it's a good idea to ask about how they Prep surface.

On mine they took a wire brush wheel and scuffed the whole bed.. especially the bed deck area crooks & cranny's. (had'm do the bottom & sides of the bed box too)

Been on 10 years, No issues. SunLiner by 3M. $500 bucks, IIRC.

Has anyone used Herculiner? Seems somewhat time consuming and laborious but I am young and am 100% confident I could do it myself. Plus, at this point, I would rather shell out $150 and some elbow grease rather than $500-$700.

If the prep and application is done correctly, how does it compare to the spray-on liners as far as thickness, life expectancy, scratch resistance, etc?

Lone Star,
You can indeed do Herculiner yourself, it's EZ. Just wear gloves and don't get any on your skin as it's tought to get off!! I did the interior and bed of my offroad truck. I take the doors off when wheeling and the Herculiner makes it EZ to hose the mud out. It took 3 coats to get a good even cover and I'd say it would take 3-4 to have a good thick cover for the bed of a pickup. Follow the directions on surface prep and you shouldn't have any problems.
I have had Line-x in two different pickups and a good friend has Rhino liner in his truck. The Herculiner is more like the Rhino in texture than the Line X and has held up well for me. It's been on for close to 9 years and no problems.
Good luck,
Hal

Line-X ends up being very hard and durable which I prefer over the Rhinolining that tends to feel somewhat soft and rubbery. I have had Line-X in two trucks now that holds up to the abuse.

Either product will do the job so it's your preference.
