Thanks Stephen...I owe you a big thanks on the Wiki. I would not have even known about this mod if it wasn't for you.
I bought the tailgate complete off of craigslist for $250...it was damaged a little.
I took it to the bodyshop and got it fixed and sprayed for a little over $250.
I had to buy the trim new and the driver's side hinge...so I've got a little less than $550 in it. I don't know how that compares to everybody else.
I also ordered the whole jimi jammer line...how does that gate keeper mount? Do you have to take the tailgate off?
They now also have a jimi jammer for the 08 tailgate handles.
Mine cost me a little over $48,000. Altough, it came with the rest of the truck!

no the step is inside the tailgate, so everything else is the same. haven't used mine much but the wife sure loves it

Install for both the non-step & step tailgates are basically the same, althought there are components that are diff. as in the tailgate assemblies.

That looks really good. I like the look of the 08 tailgates. Guess I need to go and pick one up now. Truck will be going into the shop to be repainted and finally have my fender fixed from were I had my blow out awhile back. I have talked to the body shop that is going to paint the truck and we have talked about if I get the 08 tailgate having the Super Duty Paint the darker color of the truck.
