Those so called check valves are in fact just restrictors. I forget who has some shots of them, but I still have mine and would be glad to disassemble them and take a pic or two Instead of a "ball" replace that with a cone shapped piece with holes around the pointed part. This whole thing is spring loaded as a ball would be, but the holes alow "bleed". After I got my system in I'm fairly certain it has to do with the pulsing experianced in the fuel rail at the head. Removing these could cause some interesting ideling and I believe the only reason I don't have this problem is I have replaced the rigid fuel lines with flexiable lines and I can feel the lines expand and contract as the engine is ideling.
