I still have the bed my grandparents had made for my dads room when he was 5yrs old. The bed is 70 odd years old and the book case on top with the bad contact paper on it is over 100 years old.(my great grandfathers medicine chest)
This bed has lots of miles on it and sentimental value as my dad grew up in it......I grew up in it........and my son grew up in it.
My wife has been trying to talk me into making the bottom a trundle bed for some time now..............today I relented and let my East Texas neighbor(cabinet maker) come do the work.
Here are a few pictures.......
The guide rails are very heavy duty but what is not shown are two sets of twin refrigerator casters(total of 16 wheels).........each set rated at 300#'s. Its extreme over kill resulting in a very sturdy constructed tray. We go shopping for a matress for it this weekend.
