I just (like an hour ago) had a 33x12.50x16.5 BFG AT with about 40k on it come apart at about 55 mph. It was my right rear tire. They all have (had) about 40% tread left. It bent the hell out of my exhaust and bed side.

I will be going to a body shop and then to see the Discount Tire guys tomorrow to see if they will do anything. They are about 4 yrs old. I only put about 10k yr on my truck. I likely won't be buying BFG's again.

i hate to hear about damage :sorrybut how about a :photo , it just a scar, it will heal-get fixed

Well... Here's the damage:

... and here's the culprit:

I didn't make it by the body shop today, but I did go to Discount Tire. They replaced the one tire and completed/sent a claim form off to Michelin (parent company of BFG). They have to send the tire off for examination and then we'll see if Michelin will take care of at least my deductible.

I am not using BFG's anymore. My buddy had the same thing happen with a set of Mud Terrain's.

I have not liked the 16.5 size rims that the previous owner installed (not much choice in tires) so I ordered 4 16x9 MotoMetal 951's and 4 315/75R16 Buckshot Mudders from NTW. $1400 mounted/balanced/shipped.

well, I guess it's a moot point now, but I'm gonna go back to these (which I absolutely LOVED) or maybe try these because I made a big mistake going to these even though I did get better fuel economy, which is why I put them on the truck in the first place..

I'm running the silent armors and am happy with them so far. Got about 15k on them and have a decent amount of tread left. Kinda wishing I wouldve gone with load range E because I think they would wear better. I'm hoping I'll get 50k out of them but I'm not sure. Your thoughts JL?

yeah, you should have gone Load E... not sure why the dealer let you get away with anything less...

without seeing the inside of the tire, it looks like an impact break...

JL, should i still have gone with E even though Im running 285's? I thought if you go up in size they are able to handle a heavier load and thats why you dont need to have E. Wrong assumption here?
