Oiling Ball Joints

A few thousand miles ago, I got a hair brained idea of trying to oil my ball joints. Had a few insulin syringes left from an open heart surgery I had 3 years ago and decided to fill them with some 75 w 140 synthetic oil I had. To make a long story short, I injected the oil into the ball joint through the rubber boot.
Did it do any good or do you think I waisted my time. BTW each one got 3 injections. Didn't seem to make any difference in handling but with 41k on them, they are still tight.
What do you think?

Jimmy I'm always game with Shadetree preventative maintenance and your concept I like and may consider that something I'd try.

I'd to see additional feedback from others as well since I only have 30k on our original set.

jlayne, I'd say your days are NUMBERED Mine took a dump at a little over 100k. I now have mogue ball joints with zerk fittings. I went ahead and replaced them all at one time, I'm at 168k now with now problems.

Shouldn't hurt, but local parts store should have a grease needle to actually squirt grease in the same way.

I have moog greasables in mine & I can tell the steering gets lighter/easier every time I grease them every 3-5,000 miles.

The gear oil won't stay in there like grease will, you would have to inject oil in there all the time to keep the joints well lubed.
