i was boardering 180* (trans) yesterday in traffic
and i didnt have anything on our 18' flat trailer...normally
i dont get much past 150* (empty/no trailer).

Im sure the temp would have fallen off if i could have gotten
some air moving thru the cooler etc...

i would have loved to have had my autoenginuity connected
to see what the water temp was too.

Yeah my trans is normaly around 155-165 but this is the first time I'm going to be pulling a big trailer. Just kinda curious. Last time I pulled a decent size trailer my oil got to 225 and my water to 212. I got nervous and started calling ford and Banks to ask if it was ok. They told me they didnt know it should be ok.

water temp of 212 doesnt sound bad to me...when you consider 190
is a typical thermostat opening temp

it was WARM here yesterday...mid-80s+

It just scared me i've always been told normal temp for a car is 180 and water boils at 210 so i figured it was gonna blow up.

WATER boils @ 212 and freezes at 32 (assuming sea level)...
Anti-Freeze/COOLANT doesnt.

properly MAINTAINED coolant wont boil til somewhere north of
250...if you are concerned you can test the coolant quality/condition
and concentration.

if you know its gonna be called upon for more extreme (than normal)
duty you could flush the system, add new coolant (and distilled water,
to avoid deposits & minerals) and increase the concentration.

depending on the coolant, read & heed the manufactures suggested
concentration levels...but generally you shouldnt go more than 60-70%
coolant concentration.

My 06 towing a 7,000 lb trailer, today, was running at 180-200 degrees on the trans. and the egt was around 800-1000. The cooling fan kept coming on every 2-5 miles.
