Been there, done that. The only bad part was working away from home. I was on a geophysical crew for ARCO. Went to work in '81, got laid off in '86 when oil prices went from $30.00 a barrel to $12.00. They cut 80% of their exploration budget. It's taken me 20 years for my salary to get back to where it was then. With prices like they are now, I'm still making less money. So actually, it's probably a good thing the oil companies are making good money. Hopefully their employees are reaping some of the benefits. At least they have the money to reinvest in new exploration or alternative energy sources.
