Where is best price for a CCV filtration system from Racor?

Is there a real performance advantage by adding the CCV kit?

When people speak about routing it to the exhaust, are you speaking about having it drip on the hot exhaust pipe to burn off OR drilling and tapping into the exhaust and having the oil line drip into the exhaust to burn off?

As far as I know there is NO performance advantage. The purpose is to keep the air intake and turbo housing free of the oil residue. And after seeing what my bypass tube looks like I'm glad the oil is in there and not in my intake tube.

Dripping on the exhaust would probably not be a good idea, I could see a potential fire risk there as well as unwanted fumes while parked. I think they are talking about inserting a fitting into the exhaust pipe and hooking up the hose to that, at least that's what I plan on doing.

Best price for the Racor unit was about $265 shipped from ebay. See the writeup i did this summer for the install and links.

The advantages ARE performance related by adding the CCV filter- you are keeping your intake oil free, which ELIMINATES the risk of blowing boots off due to oil contamination. You are getting more life out of your boots because they are NOT designed to be oil resitant. You are capturing the oil and returning it to the crankcase, so you don;t use oil.

And furthermore, no one is considering the environmental impact of being CLEAN!

Would you willing dump a quart of used oil on the grass, on the road, in the ditch, or in your local stream every 3 months? You are basically doing that by running an open crank case vent. You are just letting your self feel good about it since you don't do it all at once and don;t 'see' it.

I was changing my oil the other day and I noticed quite a bit of oil/dust buildup around the frame where I have the tube from the CCV running. There is a low spot and that actually has oil sitting in it. Should I have this much oil coming from the CCV? You can see the "smoke" coming from it when your idling for periods of time and after the oil change the aroma seems a lot stronger of oil as well.

Make sure you remove the low spot. You don't want the oil in the low spot to build up CCV pressure.
