Which brand oil filters do yall use.

Motorcraft FL1995 at WalMart less than $10
K&N 6001 about $16 at Kragen/PepBoys/AutoZone
Oilguard EPS-7300 used to be $24 for 3 plus shipping

I run a bypass filter so I'm not that picky as to which oil filter I use.

Synthetic oils do serve some advandages. I run syn oil to cure the romps during cold weather. I change my oil at the recommended intervals according to Ford and it isn't that much more. Rotella T 5w40 oil. Just my opinion. :)

so its more a WEIGHT issue than it is synth. vs conventional oil for you.
the conventional vs synth pricing ive seen even in rotella is more than 2x
if not closer to 3x price diff.

Synthetic oils have had a huge impact in our fleet. We used to change about 3 engines a year using conventional motor oil then we switched to amsoil syn. and may have lost 2 in the past 2 years. I won't run conventional motor oil again syn is wort the extra cost.

so your engine failures were caused by the oil ? ;) i could see lack
of maint. & over use of conventional oil (not changing or testing it)
as a contributing factor but i doubt the oil was the cause of the
failure (any more than i would bed that synth. oils are preventing
engine failures).

Wal-Mart quit selling the Motorcraft filters a couple of years ago. I purchased a dozen or so when they were selling out which should be a lifetime supply for me;)

I use Rotella 15W50 and Mobil 1 filters. Can't justify the synthetic cost at regular drain intervals.

Auto Zone sells the Mobil 1 filters for $9.95. The best price that I have seen on Rotella and Delo is at Tractor Supply.

im sure you meant 15w40.
my experiance is costco beats tractor
supply (and everyone else) everytime on rotella
and they sell it in the 6-1gallon case.

At COSTCO. Delo 15-40 is damn near:dunno 49 bucks a case up here in Oregon! Seems like everything is more-even lumber!. When it is time to change oil I shop for good oil at lowest price.
Just my ,01-- Maybe things are better in your area --I hope so.
Diesel at $3.13 a gallon:( here $2.80 for gasoline-go figure:dunno

What do ya'll think about the Soot Sucker or the extra oil filter that I have heard people running 20,000 miles on a single oil change. Have heard many good things. Any bad thoughts?

well your comparing delo vs. rotella and i didnt provide prices because
it changes...its only a ref. for folks to investigate themselves...and its
my personal 1st hand experiance.

i do the same, before i need to change the oil i start keeping my eyes
open...tractor supply (for rotella) has been the closest but still higher
than costco, again, in my experiance.

2yrs ago when i bought our truck rotella was 32-34 bucks per 6gal
case @ costco...today its in the mid 40 dollar price...

fuel here is 2.61....gas is 2.12...i dont know what taxes your state
tacks on...its easy enough to compare (flying j, posts each states
taxes on their web...texas is a couple cents more than where i used
to live in virginia).
