you see that oil cooler...lots of
CAST metal...and its flows less than
25psi (see the by-pass pop off valve)

hard to imagine what it would take
to "rupture" that...the by-pass
valve would have had to fail.

hummm the "service write" said...
so immediately id become suspicious...

was the truck already apart when they told you this was the problem ?

dont see how they would have been able to KNOW it was "ruptured" other wise.

Thanks for the pix. Not sure how I missed those when I looked the first time in the 60 Bible. Anyway, they had the truck for a long time before I got the call from them with the diagnosis. They had the truck from over night and I got the call at 3pm the next day. He said the coolant lines looked like they had liquid concrete in them. Now, he did not say that they pulled the cooler out and that it ruptured. I am not sure how long it takes to pull the oil cooler out, but based on the pix you sent to me, it looks like a pretty timely job if you ask me.

LIQUID concrete....or STOP LEAK (and/or) SAND added / left behind
from the factory ! confirmation that these trucks NEED a coolant filter
installed immediately after they roll off the dealer lot !

Agreed at this point. I think what we have here is a case of a person that does not realize that words actually mean things. I think his version of 'rupture' is actually 'a leak developed' or 'a seal failed'

agreed...and besides RUPTURED sounds more dramatic
and scarey...typical "service writer" talk !

hes been skooled in sales FUD (fear uncertainty and doubt).

ive only seen one other photo of the "liquid cement" poured
out of an oil cooler...get some pics or gather up the old
parts for us...would love to see 'em !

What does it really matter what the advisor tells him? Its under warranty and there fixing it. Im a TECH at a dealership and if someone wanted to come back to my bay and let them take pics of everything I did Id tell them to take a hike. And if its under warranty you can forget getting the old parts.

kinda goes to customer service...educated the
customer, answer their questions...and youll
remove the "commoditization" from the business,
add value and youll build trust and repeat business.

who knows...customers might even FOLLOW folks like that
when they leave a dealership !

I agree 100%, what I was getting at is (maybe I came accross wrong) that we all know in most cases why advisors are advisors and not tech's for GOOD reson. Meaning that 90% of the time the relay from the tech to advisor to customer can get miscombobulated because the advisors dont know the exct details, because its over there head.

which is EXACTLY why you cant believe anything they
say...its obvious most SW's dont know what theyre talkin'
about...and honestly most SW's that ive met are considerably
lower (and more slimmy) than most car sales man.

the job of the service writer is to INCREASE the average ticket
price and maximize the wrench turning time in the back...
