Anyone have a not so difficult way of bypassing the stock oil cooler and using a better one? like an old school cooler by the radiatior?
if so would it strain the oil pump to get pressure through the system when first started? i had an older race car that had dual oil filters kit, but it was bad for the motor when it was first started cause oil had to travel thru 2 filters and hoses before it went thru the motor?
this is on a 6.0 i am asking about.

The 6.0 oil cooler has restricted pathways, so anything larger will help flow. But...and there is always a but....you need to fabricate a part to put where the existing oil cooler is. Some are working on this as we speak, but no kits are available yet.

what type of part? i was thinking blocking it off somehow and running steel braided lines to a cooler? maybe solder to both ends and use a different cooler.
where could i read on this any ideas or places?

I don't think you can do away with the stock oil cooler since it integrates with the filter base and front cover. You should still be able to run an auxillary cooler, though. Not sure what the best way to do this would be, but maybe you could plumb it like a bypass filter from the filter cap and return it to the pan or something like that.

I haven't heard many complaints on the oil cooler on the 6.0, I suppose it could be a concern if you are getting really crazy with power, but otherwise the 6.0 cooling system is pretty well engineered.
