Growing up, every bowtie my dad had burned 1 quart/oil change, every 3,000-5,000 miles, consistently as I recall.
97 Chevy w/ Vortec 350=1 qt./4,000 miles
2002 Suburban w/ 5.3 V8=1/2-1 quart/3500 miles, depending on use
87 Chevy w/ 350 V8=1 qt./3500 miles
98 Dodge w/ 318=1 qt./800 miles, brand new off the lot (then they put the last piston ring in after about 14,000 miles and it went about 1 qt./3k miles)
01 7.3 PSD=0 noticable oil consumption
07 6.0 PSD=0 noticable oil consumption
99 4.6 V8 in a rode-hard/put away wet Crown Vic=0 oil consumption until about 110,000 miles, now it's about 1 quart every 2500 or so...but I mean rode HARD!
88 Ranger w/ 90k-130k miles, little oil used, even after a spark plug fell apart in one of the 4 little cylinders!
86 F150 w/5.0=1 qt./3-4,000 miles with 150k on the engine
93 F150 w/5.0= a little drop off the top of the stick/3,000 miles
I did have an 84 Bronco II that started burnin 1 qt./1,000 miles at about 150,000 miles...
Must be a Ford thing, get used to it!
