oil capacities

So uh, F350DRW1, 15qts. is a quart shy of 4 gallons. . . just in case you ever poured in a full 4 gallons and had some problems.

No, I haven't. There was an entry early on in this thread [that has since been deleted] that mentioned 16 quarts. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but thats pretty close to 4 gallons. So my reply is now out of context.

Book states 15Qt REFILL!! I put in 15QTs in both of my 6.0s at oil change. Never had a problem, even when one of my Employees put 16Qts in my 06. Put 10,000 miles on that oil change just like always!!

Well, there you go then. 15 quarts it is. Dipstick readings, foam problems, experiences other than your own be damned. 15 quarts it is.

I been puttin in 3.5 gallons, runs great but Ill be dipped if I can tell accurately how much according to the stick. Wondering about sanding the dipstick for easier reading?

I filed a couple of notches/rings in mine...i cant say that it helps a whole
heck of alot...its a SLIGHT improvement.

I even considered coating the stick with silicone lube or a flat paint. Maybe running a rifle swab down the darn thing before checking.

The "Dipstick" or lack there-of is the only thing I have called Ford and complained about!!

I drain my oil when it's hot so most of it comes out.

and HOT it is...
