awe man I made it about a mile with them on and wanted to shoot myself. 
sorry no pics, wasn't as "colorful" as I was fearing..
left side backing plate simply rusted away.. shoes were still in the top hat, sans friction, the adjuster is MIA, and there are two springs across the top. One is gone, the other munched.
Hub does not appear damaged, although I'll change the axle seal for good measure.. when I pulled the right side apart (intact), the smell of gear lube and a black slurry of goo greeted me..
Did discover the left rear caliper pistons are seized in their bores..
Sooooo... shopping list is:
both backing plates (left side gone, right side there, but crunchy)
axle seals (already did the rt side)
E-brake shoes
hardware kit
adjuster screw
l/r caliper
pads
