A 275/75R16 is not a common size for trucks but to give you an idea

265/75R16 is 31.6" tall/10.5" width sidewall to sidewall/7.5" wide tread
285/75R16 is 32.8" tall/11.3" width sidewall to sidewall/9.2" wide tread
A 275/75R16 is in between those two.

You should be able to fit a 285/75R16 on your stock 97 F250 without any clearance problems.

The white Truck has 275-70/R16's and the green has 265-75/R16's. They are both around 31" tall. They both look the same width-wise though. I think I'll try the 285's out.
Thanks!

Yes or No to 285's

New member, first time post and my first dually. Having read throught the treads I'm still not clear on the use of 285's on stock rear wheels. I have 17x6.5 rims on my truck and talking to a friend of mine in the tire business this morning, he says they will work on my rims but may have to add a 1/4 spacer. Like I said this is my first dually and I don't want to make an error in judgement that might lead to a failure. Any and all comments welcomed.

You should be able to fit 265/70R17's on your truck without any problems. If you want to run 285's you will have to use rim spacers so that they don't constantly rub sidewalls.
In order to run the 265's you need at least 1.5-2" inbetween the tires that are on it now. To run 285's you need about 2.5-3" inbetween your stock tires. (that's calculating without rim spacers)

Hope this helps

I'm running 285/75/16s on my dually. Needed a 2" spacer in the rear. I'm looking for super single wheels for the front because the rears fit nice (although I'm going for more height) but the fronts are wearing very badly. I have to keep the pressure just right. Wider wheels will allow me to run higer pressure and keep all the tread on the road.
