Long story short, I was trying to tint the clear cover on my gauge cluster on my '03 and some how or another it all came up missing, the entire gauge cluster.
My question is, is the odometer reading stored in the engine computer or in the gauge cluster or...? I only have about 70k miles on the truck and all the junkyard clusters have like 150k-250k+ miles on them. One junkyard said it gets the reading from the computer so it will read whatever it did before. However, another junkyard said the memory is stored in the gauge cluster and whatever the odometer read when it was pulled from their junk truck is what it will read when I put it in my truck.
So, if I buy a gauge cluster that reads like 200k miles in the junk truck, will that be what it shows in my truck? Or will it show the 70kish that my truck actually has on it?
