Odometer button not working

Just bought an 04 powerstroke (44000mi) and I cant get my odometer to show my trip miles when i push it, It just stays at the overall miles. any ideas , thanks

You have to hold it in for about 3 seconds for it to change. Holding it in will zero out the display and then when you release it, it will start to accumulate miles from zero. I do this every fuel stop to check my mileage.

Ya I know I have to hold it for 3 sec. But still nothing happens. Never heard of this happening.
