OD off button

First off I am new to the site. I can't get my OD off/ tow haul button to work on the shift lever. One day I was in drive and switched it to OD and it wouldn't go to OD. I reset my codes and now I can't take it out of OD. The OD off light won't come on and I can't figure it out. Any one had this prob or know how to fix this?

check the most obvious first

does the light blink when you turn the key on? yes / no

NO, look at the shifter stalk where it passes through the colum rubber booty and the hard cover piece, usuallythe two iddy bitty wires get chaffed there from the hard plastic rubbing on the softer wire insulation an dit cuts through, this takes out your option of turning OD on or off


does your truck go into OD with normal driving??

my old truck did the same thing. i think PB is right about the wires. the dealer replaced the gear selector which put a new OD selector on at the same time.

I had the same thing.

On my 99.5 the end cap pops off so you can remove the button. Take it out and check if for continuity.

You guys were right. I looked at the wiring pretty close and sure enough I had a broke wire. Fixed the wire and works like a champ. Thanks guys.
