To my understanding, the main difference of the two is injectors and turbos.
The old ps. have single shot injectors where as the newer ps(99.5-2003) have split fire injectors. The old turbos don't have waste gates which give them an inherently lower boost ability. The F-250 4x4 superduty's were upgraded with solid front axles and stronger 3 pinion 10.5 sterling rearends. There were several improvements overall but the older trucks are great trucks!

i like my current truck but someday i want to get a mid 90's for it's tough square look. Plus it was the last year of the famous wing window!!! Ford held on to that quality the longest. Yeah i also like that mid 80's style like your bronco. Something about that design, when it is cleaned up with a fresh paint job, gets me all excited.lol I guess caz i was raised around that truck.

with the few mods that i have, it does really good. I like the control and dependability that it offers. It gets better gas mileage than an auto would with it's same size. I use to race alittle in the sand with it at pismo beach. Clutching it at 2000 rpm's was hard on it but it sure would beat the rest off the line. I've also took it to the mud boggs and a sled pull as well. It has taken more abuse than any auto would thats for sure. But you better be willing to shift a lot!!

kinda stupid for all manufacturers to get rid of the wing windows.sometimes i want a little air in thw truck so i open the wing.but the newer trucks i gotta open the whole window, listen to wind noise and get aggravated.ill keep my oldies :sweet

97 PSDs with california emissions have split shots as well.max safe boost on our trucks is around 26PSI.im running 36-40 PSI outta mine  :D :thumbs
