Nuther Newbie from PA

Good morning: My name is Pat and I'm from PA, about 35 mi. north of Philadelphia.

I am the proud owner of my first diesel, an '01 F250 7.3L SD, LB
4x4. Spent almost 3 mos. looking for a nice used diesel with low mileage and in good shape and I'm here to tell ya they are really hard to find but I was successful. I can tell you for sure that I will never go back to gas again!!!!

This truck is my dog truck--I own labs and the truck bed has been redesigned to hold the dogs, their crates and all my equipment of which there is a lot. I have no pics of my truck yet but will take some shortly. I am a total neophyte when it comes to diesels but I'm learning fast. So I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as we go along. I did put a K&N air filter (box type) on the truck til I find out if I should have a higher end air filter installed along with a new exhaust system. Truck runs great, gets about 14.9 mpg locally and 16 to 16.5 mpg on the long hauls. I'm hoping to improve that as I learn more about diesels.

Soon as I get some good pics of my truck I'll replace my avatar.

Seems like folks really hang on to their diesels and I can fully understand why since I got mine. I was really lucky to find this truck; it's in excellent condition, it's fully loaded and had 73K mi on it but I've put about 2K on it since then. Had to travel 146 mi. one way to get it but it was well worth the trip.

I have made some minor changes and plan to make more one of which is to find a really good diesel mechanic since I am by no means mechanically inclined except for the very small stuff. I've got some questions that I'll put on the general discussion site.

Thanks again for the warm welcome. I did check out some other diesel forums but this one seems to be by far the best.

Looks like I will be turning 200k in the next 10 days. Still running strong.
