I don’t know guys my retirement is gone due to med. bills, one of my kids got drunk and got into a car with another drunk and did not have there seat belts on and ran a stop sign and got T-boned buy a van that ran the stop sign too "at a 4 way stop" and put her in the hospital for 7 months with brain injury. I had insurance for the bills but still had to come up with 350K for the testing that was needed that the insurance would not cover. sorry, I'm being a *****.

I need an island of my own and I will declare war on the US. When they show up, I'll sir-render and then they can and pay my bills and give me money......LOL....... I call it "DOGS Island" And you guys can come and hang out...LOL :sweet:sweet

Sorry to hear about that Dogman. I hope she is recovering nicely. :(
Sign me up for your island, i will bring the coke. :D

its not gouging...its demand <based on supply> !

yesterday <again for the 2nd time in 2 weeks> opec nations announced
that they saw NO REASON to increase flow...and would NOT increase flow.

everytime they mention this the price jumps <and theyre happy w/ that>.

removing the tax will further our deficit...the state & federal politicals will NOT
reduce their spending just because we're no longer paying IN <to the highway
tax fund>.

maxtor - we all feel the pain...some are more fortunate that others...if it were
REALLY that painful EVERYONE of us could probably drive less.

Bush;

You can't tell me that oil that has gone up by 200% is not price gouging.
Since I retired, in 2001, I slowed down to around 60 mph, not because of fuel costs, but because I was not in a hurry to get to anyplace. Back then everyone was flying by me at 70-90 mph. Now I see more and more people going 60 mph, and some I pass because they are doing 55.
I still see the 70-90 mph car, but not as many as there used to be.

But its OK for autos, food, and real estate to go up between 200% and 400%?

20 years ago gas was $1.25/gal............today it is 3.50/gal
20 years ago my house was 80,000.......today it is 250,000
20 years ago an F-250 was 10-12,000...today it is pushing or exceeding 50,000.

These things arent worth MORE, our dollar is worth LESS.

I just have a gut feeling that something is not right somewhere.

I am not an educated person when it comes to the economy, so I have no economical theory as to why things are the way they are.

I just feel so discouraged right now. My business feeds 4 families and its getting harder everyday.

I feel like there is a time bomb somewhere that is going to explode real soon, and it's not going to be pretty.

Is there an end in sight to the high cost of fuel? What's gonna happen?

I was thinkin the exact same thing Bama. I'm very interested to see what happens to the fuel prices. I am fortunate that I use my vehicles for my business and the fuel is a write off, but it still hurts. Customers are aking why such high prices, and I have to tell them fuel.

Yes I agree with you, but in some cases our income is much greater than inflation, but other people are having a hard time with it. Young people just starting out, are going to have it the roughest.
We as a country have much more now than we did 60 years ago.

Buddy, I've been saying it for about a year & a half now.. the ch!t's gonna hit the fan and you're going to see wholesale changes in the American way of life.

First the real estate bubble burst, then Katrina, then fuel prices...
you watch, we'll have rolling blackouts in the nationwide power grid this summer :rant
