In case y'all didn't know while West Texas has been getting rain North Texas is under the worst Draught conditions possible. We are under the "Extreme Draught" classification with soil moisture levels lower than anywhere in the country according to the weather dwebes.

Our lake levels are dropping like a rock resulting in major watering restrictions. We are limited to just a few hours a day once a week.

I was just curious how deep the cracks in my yard were so I went out and messured one. Ya just gotta love this @#$% black clay soil.

Can you say HELLO CHINA.......................!!!

Tbar, I've got some cracks that are wider than these. A few that will hold my size 10 shoe. I also took a tape measure and found some that were a little over 3 feet deep. A few years ago, I measured a crack that was 43 inches deep, and that was using a wooden ruler.

I'm not sure how deep the footers are poured. I'm in a Palm Harbor, it was set up in June 2000 during a period of 12 inches of rain. Took three weeks to get it to the site and set up. After that 12 inches, we went three months without any rain. Hopefully there'll be some relief soon. This old black clay soil is as hard as concrete right now.

You know what they say about that old black clay soil there in Texas, If you stay with it when it's dry, it will stay with you when it's wet.

Also years ago there was a sign going in to Royce City, TX. that said.
Welcome to Royce City Texas. Home of the blackest dirt and the Whitest People in Texas. I think the NAACP made them take it down about 30 years ago.

WD40,

I think you are thinking about Greenville, Texas.

They used to have a sign that was hanging on the main street intersection of downtown, from the 1920s to the late 1960s.
