I was searching for information on steering wander. I took it to my local less Schwab and the guy said that I needed a new steering box.
I had heard about steering box preloading...
And also have a set of tires that are about due to be replaced and thought that might fix it.

I'd say... New Tires... then get the Front-End suspension/steering checked out ?

I should start with the tires but I was trying to eek as much life out of them as possible
Suspension should be good. I had the brakes and hubs done a few thousand miles ago and everything checked out.
